Our building was constructed in 2008 as a Specialist Technology College for the former Bydales School and was purpose built for learning in the 21st century. When Bydales School was put into Special Measures by Ofsted in 2013 it was taken over by Outwood Grange Academies Trust and is now Outwood Academy Bydales.
The school has undergone a major transformation over the past few years with principal Andrew Wappat focusing on improving the quality of teaching and learning for his 750 students and ensuring they have the best possible environment to learn in.
There are specialist facilities for all subjects, including:
purpose built Science department;
music technology suite with recording studio;
a Design and Technology wing;
Learning Resource Centre full of books;
and great academic and sporting facilities.
Each classroom has its own interactive whiteboard and there are many IT rooms available across the academy. Our excellent sporting facilities include a fitness suite, sports hall, tennis courts and large open sports fields.
